What You Will Learn in Our 200-Hour Hatha & Vinyasa Yoga Teacher Training

Our 200-hour training is built around a strong foundation in Hatha and Vinyasa yoga, while giving you the opportunity to experience different yoga practices from the inside.
We believe that becoming a yoga teacher is not only about learning information. It is about practising, observing, asking questions, receiving feedback and experiencing the teachings for yourself.
That is why all of our Yoga Teacher Trainings are fully in person.
There is something very different about having your teacher right there beside you. They can observe how you move, offer a thoughtful adjustment, answer a question in the moment, notice when you need support and help you understand through direct experience. These are things that are difficult to recreate through a screen.
You are not simply watching someone teach. You are learning with them, practising with them and growing alongside them.
Hatha Yoga
Develop a strong foundation in Hatha yoga, including alignment, breath, stability, awareness and mindful movement. You will learn the principles and teaching skills needed to confidently guide Hatha yoga classes.
Vinyasa Yoga
Learn how to create intelligent, purposeful sequences that connect movement and breath. You will develop the skills to plan, demonstrate and teach Vinyasa classes with clarity and confidence.
Anatomy & Physiology
Develop a practical understanding of anatomy and physiology for yoga and how the body responds to movement and different postures. Learn to observe individual differences and offer appropriate modifications and variations to support different students.
Yoga Philosophy & Humanities
Explore the roots, history and philosophy of yoga and discover how these teachings can extend beyond the yoga mat. We explore subjects including the Yoga Sutras, ethics, chakras, koshas, mudras and the yogic approach to everyday life.
Teaching Methodology
Develop the practical skills needed to become a confident yoga teacher. Learn about sequencing, class planning, verbal cues, demonstration, observation, adjustments, communication and creating a safe and supportive space for your students.
Pranayama
Explore traditional pranayama practices and understand how conscious breathing can influence the body, mind and energy. You will develop your own practice while learning how to confidently and safely guide pranayama techniques for your students.
Meditation
Explore different approaches to meditation and develop a personal practice rooted in awareness, concentration and inner observation. You will also learn how to guide meditation practices, creating a clear and supportive experience for your students.
Experiencing Different Yoga Practices
Throughout the training, you will also practise and experience different approaches to yoga, including Ashtanga Vinyasa, Yin Yoga, Partner Yoga and Yoga Nidra.
These practices are not separate teaching certifications. They are an important part of your experience as a yoga student and future teacher.
By experiencing different styles yourself, you can feel the differences between them — how they move, how they feel in the body, how they influence the mind and energy, and what each practice has to offer.
We believe that a yoga teacher should not only study different practices — they should experience them.
Sound Bath
Experience the vibrational and meditative qualities of sound through a guided sound bath, offering another way to explore relaxation, awareness and deep rest.
Learning Through Experience
At Shambhala, we believe that some things simply cannot be learned by watching a screen.
You need to feel the practice in your own body. You need to try teaching and receive feedback. You need a teacher who can see what you are doing, notice what you may not notice yourself, and be there to support you in the moment.
That is why our trainings are fully in person, with your teachers beside you throughout the journey.
Because becoming a yoga teacher is not just about knowing what to teach. It is about experiencing yoga deeply enough to share it with others.
Your Teachers Are Part of Your Journey
A yoga teacher training is shaped not only by what you learn, but by who you learn from.
At Shambhala, you are guided by experienced teachers who are genuinely involved in your learning. With a maximum of 9 students and 2 teachers present during each training, there is time to ask questions, receive personal feedback and be supported throughout the process.
Our teachers bring different experiences, perspectives and areas of knowledge to the training, while sharing the same approach: teaching with presence, care, professionalism and respect for each student’s journey.
We don’t want you to simply leave with a certificate.
We want you to leave feeling more confident in your practice, more comfortable teaching, and more connected to your own voice as a yoga teacher.
